Nika D. Gholston, Esq. is the Principal Attorney and Mediator at Nika Gholston Law, LLC where her practice focuses primarily on family law, mediation, special education cases. Nika has over twelve years of litigation experience representing both pro bono and high net worth clients. She is routinely involved in complex cases involving divorce, child custody and timesharing, alimony, equitable distribution, and business valuation.
Nika is an Alabama native. She graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and received her Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 2005. At Cumberland, Nika focused her studies on alternative dispute resolution techniques and was a member of the Cumberland National Mediation Team. In 2005, her team placed first at the American Bar Association (ABA) National Mediation Competition in Los Angeles, CA. In 2006, Nika went on to represent the United States at the Inaugural International Chamber of Commerce Mediation Competition in Paris, France.
After law school, Nika joined the United States Department of Justice, Community Relations Service (CRS), as a Conciliation Specialist in Atlanta, GA. At CRS, she worked closely with government officials, school administrators, law enforcement officers, and influential community leaders to assess and respond to local and national conflicts based on race, color, and national origin. She monitored the racial climate in communities throughout the Southeast and substantially contributed to the Annual Assessment of Racial Tension, which is submitted to the United States Attorney General and to the Congress.
Nika is specially trained in special education mediation and currently serves as an IDEA mediator for the Alabama State Department of Education. Nika is also a certified Guardian ad Litem and passionate child and parent advocate.
Nika is a member of the Alabama and Georgia Bar Associations. In 2016, she opened Nika Gholston Law, L.L.C. located on the historic Dexter Avenue in Montgomery, AL.
Nika is a Fellow of the American Bar Association Section of Family Law and sits on the Diversity, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Trial Practice and Techniques committees. Nika is also a Member of the Alabama State Bar Bench and Bar Task Force.
